A circle can be any radius up to 100 miles around a point you pick. A shape can have up to 64 points, so you can trace a basin edge, a lease block or a crew's drive time rather than settling for the county it sits in. Drawn areas are not bound to one state: a circle straddling the Texas and New Mexico line returns permits from both sides, because all four states are one register.
